Korean Traditional Performing Arts Foundation was established to contribute to the development of Gugak (Korean traditional music) by preserving, passing down and expanding the base of traditional performing art forms. At present, it conducts projects to restore the traditional performing arts, stimulate the creation of new performances, share traditions, and popularize traditional performing arts. It also established and operates the ‘Traditional Performing Arts & Culture School’ to spread the art form of Gugak.

School of Traditional Performing Arts and Culture
School Introduction
The foundation offers lessons and courses in the traditional culture of Korea with an objective to disseminate traditional culture and cultivate the knowledge in the arts, and is committed in popularizing the traditional culture of Korea through the School of Traditional Performing Arts and Culture.
Education Program for
Any adults over 18 can participate
Program
Traditional musical instruments (gayageum, geomungo, ajeng, etc.) classical dance, pansori (dramatic song) and gyeonggi folk song, etc.
Curriculum
The education program consists of a ‘stepping stone level’ (1st level, beginners), ‘standing level’ (2nd level, intermediate), and ‘closing level’ (3rd level, advanced), and the specialized level. Sharing Tradition
Project Overview
‘Sharing Tradition’ operated by the Korean Traditional Performing Arts Foundation is sponsored by the lottery fund (operated by the Lottery Commission that is affiliated with the Ministry of Strategy and Finance). It is a program that was established to share our traditional culture with the culturally underprivileged groups who face difficulties in taking part in activities in culture and arts.

Traditional Performing Arts
‘Traditional Performing Arts’ refer to a composite art of ‘music,’ ‘singing,’ ‘dance,’ and other ‘dramatic elements,’ which include tightrope walking, puppet theater, dance, and singing. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Traditional Performing Arts Foundation have been conducting the project together to stimulate the field of traditional performing arts since 2007.

Lottery Fund : Cultural Exchange

This is the website that introduces various projects for ‘sharing and exchanging culture’ that are operated with the funding by the Lottery Commission. The ‘cultural exchange’ project is in operation with the goal to strengthen the creative foundation of the culture and arts, and enable all the citizens of Korea to enjoy cultural and arts activities.
